Hello! I'm Nellie!

Nellie of the Roses, a darling of Appalachia.

Founder & creative director of Nellie Rose Design House rooted in Thomas, West Virginia.

I am delighted to have you here!!! Whether you’ve been here for 1 day, or since the start—13 years ago when I established Nellie Rose Textiles in 2013.

First & foremost, I am a being. A bee-ing. Tender & full of ferocious care.

I’m a dreamer, a playful romantic.

I am a maker, an artist, designer, curator, & a personal style coach!!! I am a POP-up host & an enthusiastic cheerleader of all the artists & makers I represent (past and future)!

I am a creative placemaker in rural appalachia & a weaver of community.

I am incredibly grateful to get to follow the winding path of my intuition over the years. Thank you for being here and for giving me this gift.

With all the love & light & exquisite care I can muster

Hey hi I'm Lydia Epp Schmidt! You can call me Lyd!!!

Co-creative director of Nellie Rose Design House.

I’m a scribbler, daydreamer, doodler.

I’m a writer, artist, designer, sewist, with a knack for organizing & streamlining systems. Because I believe we could all use a little more ease and tenderness in this life.

I’m an interdisciplinary theorist and thinker and teacher sometimes, too (with a PhD in American Studies).

I’m a gardener and home builder and plant person with a DIY ethos baked into my bones.

I have a sporadic newsletter with poetic musings on holding & being held.

You’ll most often find me in the forest with my dog talking to the trees and rhododendrons, or perhaps lying in the sun on a rock by the river. If you find me there, I'll likely offer to hold a piece of your pain for a little while.

With tenderness
